Volvo searching for NA’s safest fleets

TORONTO – Volvo Trucks is looking to bestow an award on two North American fleets for their commitment to safety.

Recipients of the Volvo Trucks Safety Award (co-sponsored by Michelin) will each receive $25,000 to be used in their safety-related activities.

Last year’s winners were MacKinnon Transport of Guelph, Ont., and Upper Lakes Foods, Cloquet, Minn.

Officials from the two companies detail their approaches to fleet safety in the videos found here.

The two categories are based on annual vehicle miles traveled: less than 20 million miles and more than 20 million miles.

Complete rules and entry forms are at Volvo’s website here.

The deadline for entry is June 30, 2011.
