Wabash National clarifies statement on backlog

LAFAYETTE, Ind. Feb. 28, 2002 — Wabash National Corp. said earlier this week that a recent report of the company’s backlog of orders for 19,000 units or $280 million US included orders not yet confirmed by the customer in writing or not in its production schedule during the next 18 months.

The company did not provide corrected backlog totals, but stated that its criteria for reporting on backlog reflects only firm orders that a) are confirmed by the customer in writing; and, b) are in its production schedule during the next 18 months.

Wabash National, the world’s largest manufacturer of semi-trailers, said it would review and discuss its backlog of orders along with its year-end financial results on March 6. Wabash National builds trailers under the Wabash National, Fruehauf, and RoadRailer brands, and sells and distributes equipment through North American Trailer Centers, a network of 50 locations in Canada and the United States.
