Wabash, Terion form ‘smart’ trailer alliance
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (March 22, 2000) — Trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. will form an alliance with Terion Inc. to develop “smart” trailers that would provide tetherless tracking information and alert operators of problems with the vehicle.
In a joint statement, the companies said they plan to co-develop and market a trailer tracking and performance monitoring system. The technology base for the advanced trailer management system would be Terion’s FleetView Trailer Monitoring System and Wabash National’s Smart Trailer electronic control and monitoring technology for trailers. TerionÕs system uses an FM subcarrier network for communications.
