Wabash trailer gets “green’ light from EPA
LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Wabash National says its DuraPlate dry van trailer meets the technical specifications for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay certification mark.
Wabash National, in collaboration with Freightliner, completed extensive road testing of several aerodynamic devices using the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Fuel Consumption Procedure, before selecting the most beneficial combinations.
“We continue to utilize our testing capabilities that allow us to create innovative solutions and aerodynamic advancements,” said Rob Hancock, vice president of product engineering for Wabash National. “The introduction of the SmartWay package illustrates Wabash National’s commitment to offering our customers fuel saving technologies that continue to enhance the performance of trailers.”
The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a voluntary partnership between the freight industry and the EPA to increase energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
