Western Star receives ISO 9001:2000 certification

KELOWNA, B.C. (May 9, 2001) — Western Star Trucks, a division of Freightliner LLC, said it has qualified for ISO 9001:2000 quality standard of the International Organization for Standardization.

The certification follows an independent audit of Western Star’s operations, management, and quality systems.

Western Star is one of the first North American heavy-duty truck manufacturers to qualify for this new quality standard.

The year 2000 version of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standard is a consolidation of ISO 9001, 9002, and 9003, the company said. It focuses on how a variety of business practices deliver continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Western Star marked its achievement of ISO 9000: 2001 with a ceremony at its truck manufacturing plant in Kelowna, B.C., yesterday.
