Westport wins tech innovation award

VANCOUVER, (March 26, 2002) — Westport Innovations of Vancouver, B.C. has won the inaugural Corporate Award for Technology Innovation and Application from the Globe Foundation and The Globe and Mail newspaper.

The award is one of four Globe Awards for Environmental Excellence launched as part of Globe 2002, the seventh biennial trade fair and conference on business and the environment.

Westport has partnered with Cummins in developing a natural gas engine for diesel trucks that reduces emissions of particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and carbon dioxide while retaining the power of the diesel engine.
