Wi-Fi goes green

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Travelers in the Green Mountain State will soon have the benefit of wireless Internet access in all highway rest stops and state information centres.

A story in the Barre Montpelier Times Argus reports Vermont Governor, James Douglas, as saying more and more travelers — especially business travelers — seek access to the Web to find information on vacation destinations, road conditions, or to access e-mail.

Canada needs rest stops before it gets Wi-Fi

“Installing Wi-Fi at our information centers was a goal we established in our Telecommunications Plan last year,” Douglas said. “I am pleased to report that we’re making significant progress and this valuable service is now a reality.”

It will take about $10,000 to wire up each of the rest areas, and users will pay fees ranging from $6.95 for four hours to $250 for a year’s service.
Now, wouldn’t it be nice if Canada had rest areas to install wireless in?
