XATA Unveils XATAnet

The XATAnet family of Internet-based, in-vehicle and in-office truck information products from XATA Corp. allows vehicle owners and operators to customize their onboard information systems from a suite of wireless applications without taking trucks and drivers off the road for service or training.

The ability to add and adjust XATAnet applications “on-the-fly” delivers improved productivity, customer service, and compliance with industry regulations, the company says. The XATAnet family includes applications that automate driver logs, monitor state line crossings, and calculate fuel tax. When used in conjunction with XATA onboard hardware modules, XATAnet supports applications that do not require a driver display or driver intervention, such as lease billing, vehicle diagnostics, fuel tax accounting, and vehicle position.

XATAnet is compatible with a variety of hardware and communications platforms, wireless networks, and peripheral devices. Among them is Qualcomm’s MVPc, a Windows CE-based onboard computer to be used with OmniTRACS and OmniExpress mobile communications systems. XATAnet also is the first onboard information system to allow communication between embedded dashboard display devices installed by truck original equipment manufacturers and the logistics information systems used by fleet operators, truck owners, and lessors.
