XTL to use route planning ASP
BURLINGTON, Mass. (Mar. 13, 2002) — Logistics.com, a leader in logistics planning and execution solutions for shippers and carriers, said it will deliver OptiYield Fuel&Route* to XTL Transport via application service provider (ASP) delivery.
XTL Transport, based in Toronto, will pay a monthly fee for access to the application, which is an optimization tool for route planning and operational cost control for the trucking industry.
“We expect OptiYield Fuel&Route to save us money on every truck,” said Doug Kimmerly, vice-president of MIS for XTL Transport. “With 180 trucks on the system, it can really add up.”
XTL Transport will use OptiYield Fuel&Route to generate optimal routes and fueling stop recommendations. The tool will give management better visibility into the fuel stop network, allowing them to make vital business decisions based on qualified, comprehensive data analysis.
A robust optimization tool, OptiYield Fuel&Route considers multiple factors such as fuel prices, driver amenities, out-of-route miles, state taxes, miles on toll roads and on-time deliveries when determining the optimal route. It not only recommends where to buy fuel but also how much to buy at each stop. OptiYield Fuel&Route also considers the price of fuel in the final delivery area so that trucks will not be stranded in high cost areas with low fuel levels.
