XTL will bring in New Year with logistics spin-off

ETOBICOKE, Ont. (Dec. 5, 2001) — Toronto, Ont.-based XTL Transport has announced that it will be launching a logistics division on the second day of the New Year.

XTL Logistics Inc. (XLI), which will be headed by former XTL sales and marketing vice-president Craig Germain, will be based in Mississauga and will initially focus on North American cross-border shipments.

While the service is currently being offered as a value-added function of XTL Transport-in the form of TL, LTL, dedicated, cartage, as well as warehouse and distribution, and reverse logistics-the company said it plans to expand the service from transportation management to global logistics coverage, including freight forwarding, inventory management, customs brokerage, and freight payment services.

Meanwhile, Silvio Martel will replace Germain as XTL Transport’s vice-president of sales and marketing.
